Quality of
Education
The reason for Macleay’s success is
the quality of education it provides. The college was founded by
educationalists whose philosophy is based on small classes and individual
attention. Macleay has better staff/student ratios, better qualified lecturers,
better computer and equipment ratios and smaller classes than any educational
institution in its field. Macleay lecturers have tertiary qualifications and
teach only in their own fields. A substantial number of staff lecture at the
college while maintaining current positions at executive level in the industry.
Macleay’s policy is that current professional practice is essential for
tertiary educators to provide relevant, up-to-date skills and good contacts
within industry.
Advanced Diploma or Diploma after one year
Macleay's courses allow
students to qualify for an award at Advanced Diploma or Diploma level in one
year. Because they qualify after one year, Macleay graduates have a
considerable edge on other students, both in terms of earnings from their
salaries and advancement in their careers.
Industry and Government accreditation
Macleay courses have the
highest level of accreditation possible for a vocational college to gain.
The Macleay course is fully accredited by the New South Wales Department of
Education and Training and the Vocational Education and Training Accreditation
Board (VETAB).
International Recognition
Our graduates are either
currently or recently employed in Austria, Canada, China, Colombia, Fiji,
France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Russia,
Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland,
Tahiti, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA, Vanuatu and Vietnam
Location
Macleay College is
located in Sydney’s central business district. It is in the high quality, air-conditioned offices at 175 Liverpool Street, overlooking Hyde Park. It is next
to Museum Railway Station and on the direct route of buses from Circular Quay,
Central Railway and the eastern suburbs.
Industry Interaction
Macleay’s philosophy is to interact education with industry wherever possible.
In practical classes, students work with the latest systems in use in industry.
Regular classes are supplemented by guest lectures by well-known industry
identities, and by industry visits and excursions.
Qualifications for Enrolment
Conditions
of Enrolment
Enrolments are accepted on a first-come,
first-served basis for applicants who fulfil one of the above three criteria.
There are a limited number of places in most courses so applicants are advised
to enrol early. To apply for enrolment, please follow the application procedure
as outlined in the Macleay College Handbook. Applicants will be notified
by return mail whether their application is successful. Enrolments from current
Year 12 students will be accepted on condition of their completion of the
HSC.
Student Counselling
Part of Macleay’s educational philosophy is
to provide personal attention to students. Our student administrators are
available to students for consultation and advice on academic, social and
personal issues. The course co-ordinator of each faculty also counsels individual
students about their progress in the course and in their career decisions.
Students are assisted to prepare a personal résumé and a professional portfolio
that presents their work in its best light.
