Get your qualifications through Macleay College
Macleay College is reintroducing its Real Estate course from February 2012. This night course costs $3,150* and is specifically for people already working in the real estate industry, or who have experience in the industry. It is not for school leavers. The course meets the educational requirements for the issue of a Real Estate Agent's License and a Buyer's Agent's License.
The course is made up of 26 units that are taught over a three-month period during the evenings. We encourage applicants to apply for exemptions that can be based on life experience, work experience, internal and external training programs, and academic qualifications. The 26 units of the course are presented in the following sequence:
1. Certificate of Registration – 4 units
2. Real Estate Selling – 6 units
3. Property Management – 5 units
4. Auctioneering – 2 units
5. Business Practices – 3 units
6. Trust Accounting & Managing Finances – 3 units
7. Staff Recruitment and Staff Management Requirements – 3 units
Please note: To obtain the Business Broker's License, you must complete an additional 5 units.
Real Estate Agent's License: Successful completion of this course makes you eligible for the Diploma of Property Services (Agency Management).
Buyer's Agent's License: If you hold a current Real Estate Agent's license, you only have to complete an additional 2 units to obtain the license.
Business Agent's License: If you hold a current Real Estate Agent's license, you only have to complete an additional 5 units to obtain the license
Certificate of Registration for Sales and Property Management: If you hold a current certificate or license (including other States) exemption is granted.
Auctioneer's Accreditation: If you hold a current Real Estate Agent's License, you only have to complete an additional 2 units to obtain the accreditation.
Duration
12 weeks of classes, 5.30pm to 9.30pm, two nights per week. Attendance requirements are reduced if exemptions are granted.

Location
28 Foveaux St, Surry Hills, close to the Sydney CBD and transport. There is adequate parking near the college.
Delivery
The course is delivered face to face by experienced property practitioners. There are no assignments or course work outside of class hours and assessments are completed at the end of each group of units.
Macleay College's course is ideally suited to:
- People already working in real estate who are yet to obtain their license or require additional qualifications
- Mature age people who are interested in a career change or property investment
Additional Courses
During 2012, we will also be offering the Strata Manager's License course, CPD courses and staff development courses. We currently offer Certificate of Registration courses for a Business Brokers Salesperson and a Registered Strata Manager.
