Macleay College is conducting a special program of lectures and individual course advice for prospective students, and their families, who are interested in enrolling for the 2009 academic year. This is an opportunity to inspect Macleay's premises and gain comprehensive information about the courses offered.

2009 ENROLMENTS
Macleay is accepting enrolments for the 2009 academic year. Enrolments are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, provided the applicant satisfies the enrolment criteria as listed below under Qualifications for Enrolment. Places are limited in all courses, so applicants for the 2009 academic year should enrol as soon as possible.

Qualifications

 

Graduates of the Macleay real estate program receive the following qualification:

Diploma of Property (Real Estate) Course Code PRD50101

Optional Qualifications

In addition to completing the requirements for the Diploma of Property (Real Estate), students have the option of concurrently completing the following qualifications at no additional cost:

Certificate IV in Property (Strata Management) Course Code 90779NSW
Certificate IV in Property (Business Broking) Course Code PRD40403

Students accepted for enrolment within the Diploma of Property (Real Estate) who wish to gain the optional qualifications should contact the College to make an application.

Best Employment Outcomes
Macleay graduates in Real Estate have the educational qualifications needed for positions with real estate and property organisations, including:

Preparation for Employment
Students are required to complete 80 hours of industry/course related work experience. The work experience is to enhance knowledge of the hospitality workplace, expose students to industry practices and procedures, and provide feedback from the workplace on the participant’s employability skills. Work experience is not assessed as part of any units in the course but is a compulsory requirement for the award of the qualification.

Quality of Education
The reason for Macleay’s success is the quality of education it provides. The college was founded by educationalists whose philosophy is based on small classes and individual attention. Macleay lecturers have tertiary qualifications and teach only in their own fields. A substantial number of staff lecture at the college while maintaining current positions at executive level in the industry. Macleay’s policy is that current professional practice is essential for tertiary educators to provide relevant, up-to-date skills and good contacts within industry.

High Level of Computer Skills
Macleay is one of a very few tertiary institutions still offering a full year’s computer training in every course. Macleay has small classes taught by fully qualified computer trainers. There is no self-teaching. Our lecturers attend every class. Macleay graduates receive a separate computer qualification and a statement of academic record provides full details of every computer module completed.

Government Accreditation
The Macleay course is fully accredited by the New South Wales Government’s Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board and endorsed by the Office of Fair Trading. Macleay qualifications are recognised internationally, wherever Australian educational credentials are recognised.

Location
Macleay College is located in Sydney’s central business district. It is in high quality, air-conditioned offices at 175 Liverpool Street, overlooking Hyde Park. It is next to Museum Railway Station and on the direct route of buses from Circular Quay, Central Railway and the eastern suburbs.

Qualifications for Enrolment

  1. Students currently sitting for the Higher School Certificate or those who have completed the HSC or its equivalent in recent years
  2. Graduates who have completed university courses and who want to add a professional qualification to their degree
  3. Mature age people who have work experience and who want to change, re-orient or upgrade their careers

Additional Requirements for Overseas Students

In addition to the above qualifications for enrolment, overseas students applying to study at Macleay College must also fulfill the following qualifications for enrolment:

(i) All applicants must be 18 years and over at the time of submitting their application
(ii) An overseas student whose first language is not English should be able to speak and write English well. To be accepted for enrolment an overseas student should produce evidence of English language proficiency at the level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. The English results provided must have been taken no more then two years before the time of the application.

Conditions of Enrolment
Enrolments are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for applicants who fulfil one of the above three criteria. There are a limited number of places in Real Estate so applicants are advised to enrol early. To apply for enrolment, please follow the application procedure as outlined in the Macleay College Handbook. Applicants will be notified by return mail whether their application is successful. Enrolments from current Year 12 students will be accepted on condition of their completion of the HSC.

Student Counselling
Macleay’s educational philosophy is to provide personal attention to students. This includes the ability for students to access welfare related support services to assist with academic, social or personal issues that may arise during their study including course progress, attendance requirements and accommodation issues. Advisors are available to provide confidential and free advice to all students. Where a student requires professional advice, this student can be referred to an appropriate professional counsellor. Macleay College does not charge for this referral.

Fees
Contact the college for all information regarding fees.

Three ways of paying fees:

  1. Pay fees by instalment as follows: full-time students, by making four instalments (no interest) at the beginning of each term; part-time students, by making eight instalments (no interest) at the beginning of each term
    or
  2. Pay fees upfront with 5 per cent discount
    or

Youth Allowance/Austudy and Student Concessions
Students in the program are recognised by the Commonwealth Government as being eligible for Youth Allowance/Austudy, provided they fulfil the normal conditions that apply to the allowance.

Please note that overseas students are not eligible for any student concessions or government assistance.
