Hands-on experience for Travel and Tourism students

Travel and Tourism students from Macleay College made a recent off-site visit to The Travel Corporation to learn more about the travel trade. The Travel Corporation represents several international travel and tourism brands including Contiki, Trafalgar, Insight and AAT/Kings. These are all well-known travel wholesalers.

The students learnt about the different brands, their target markets and then had a guided tour through the 4 levels of the building visiting the reservations, documentation and sales departments of each and observing the staff at work.

March 12
Special guest speaker for radio students

Advertising students at Macleay College will have the privilege this week of hearing from Jane Ubrihien, one of Australia’s most sought-after voiceover artists.

Jane has developed an excellent reputation in the industry by having worked in many aspects of the business. From 1988 to 2002, Jane was Creative Director at one of Sydney's premier radio broadcasters, 2UW which became MIX106.5.

Since 2002, she has been Creative Director at Macquarie Broadcasting, Quince Creative Agency and Visual Sound.

Jane is in constant demand as a character voice for animations as well as the more corporate delivery required for commercial clients. She was the voice of SBS for a number of years and there would hardly be 15 minutes in Australian broadcasting that does not feature Jane's voice somewhere around the country, either on television, radio or internet.

Jane’s great passion is creative writing for commercials. She has written for clients including Toyota, Apple, Harvey Norman, Domayne, Sydney Turf Club, Tattersalls, St George Bank, McDonald's, Channel 9 and ninemsn.

She has won numerous international and Australasian advertising awards and has acted as juror for the New York and London International Advertising Awards.
She also enjoys sharing the secrets of the craft with students, having guest-lectured at AFTRS and Macleay College Sydney.
