There is more to you than your ATAR!

You are a unique individual with plenty more to offer than just a part of a whole. It is important to remember that your ATAR is not a percentage but a rank, given in increments of 0.05 between 0.0 and 99.95, which means that a score of 75 puts you in the top 25 per cent of your state.

Your ATAR score alone isn’t the be-all and end-all, as well as a reflection of not only one’s academic ability, but also the circumstances that one is exposed to throughout their high school career.

Beyond the HSC it is important to pick a course and more broadly, a university or college, based on its merits and suitability for you. Not the other way around.

Macleay is the perfect option for a student who wants a non-traditional, personalised education with some of the best minds in the business.

Many students feel pressure when preparing for the HSC to choose subjects they think will score well, or even opting for easier subjects in order to test well in the aim to lift their overall mark. Too often this leads to students having sat exams for subjects they are not altogether interested in, or subjects that don’t transfer easily into the courses they later wish to study.

This applies beyond the HSC and The Good Universities Guide recommends that you shouldn’t choose a course simply because of its prestige if you can’t see yourself studying and working in the field.

Why Study At Macleay

Learn by doing and gain real experience - For over 30 years we’ve been connecting graduates to industry success through practical education. Our project-based learning and real-world course content gives you valuable experience and access to industry networks, so you’re prepared to start your career from day one.

Learn from the best - Our lecturers are all industry professionals, consistently rated as leaders in their fields. They bring the latest industry knowledge to every course, and with our small class sizes, you get personalised guidance in an intimate learning environment.

Graduate job ready - By pitching ideas, developing skills and working in teams, you experience first-hand what your new job will be like. We also understand that not all job skills can be taught in the classroom, which is why you get to work in your chosen field with industry leaders through our internship program. Internships are a valuable opportunity to see how you like your field of study. You might find that it’s even better than you’d hoped - or the experience lands you a job before you graduate!

We’re here to help - Qualified counsellors are available at our Sydney and Melbourne campuses every week. You can book a private and confidential meeting free of charge if you’re in need of some personal and emotional support. We also offer free workshops on study tips, referencing, essay writing, research, report writing and more, and encourage all students to attend.

Our industry-leading lecturers are professionals in their fields - Macleay’s lecturers work in areas related to the subjects they teach and deliver their instruction from an industry perspective. We’re proud to engage a stellar line up of journalism, advertising, digital media, business, accounting and marketing professionals who guide you to industry success.
