“I love what I do because I believe Macleay provides excellent, quality education opportunities and having a good education is life’s most essential assets. And I work with amazing people,” says Anne with a smile.
The Student Success program promotes wellbeing in all aspects of college life. There are many services on offer, ranging from academic advice to professional development to international support and counselling.

Wellbeing Officer, Garrett Teters, offers a range of support including general life skill mentor coaching, employment readiness, housing, and mental health.
“I have always had a desire to assist others in achieving their goals and being the best selves, they can be,” says Garrett. “Students should always reach out for help and assistance and reach out sooner rather than later.”
Friendly Journalism lecturer, Donna Demaio, is available to assist students in the library on Monday’s between 1:30pm and 3:30pm and Tuesdays from 2:00pm until 6:00pm. “I offer English support to students,” Donna says. “It’s extremely rewarding to engage with students and guide them in their quest for knowledge. Watching them learn, express their creativity and improve their expression brings great satisfaction.”

Indeed, a broad scope of academic support is available on campus. Narelle, the English as an Additional Language Teacher, is ready and willing to assist International students with their assessments on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am-2pm. “I am currently at university myself and understand the challenge of academic research, writing and Harvard referencing. Come and see me and I can help you!”
On Thursdays and Fridays, Terry Brown is available for writing and research skills. Students are welcome to come to the library between 10:30am and 2:30pm, armed with assignments, essays and research questions. “Macleay is a happy, cosy campus and the most welcoming place. It is like a second family for students and staff. Everybody helps everyone else out. It is a joy to work in a place like that and see the students flourish,” Terry says. His advice to students is that, “the world is a strange and confusing place and it doesn’t come with an operator’s manual. Stay curious and question everything!”
