Take-off for Macleay Advertising Graduates

Macleay Advertising is gearing up to launch the next wave of advertising professionals, with the graduating advertising class of 2013 showcasing their projects at LAUNCH on Wednesday the 11th of December at 6pm.

Hosted at Macleay College in Surry Hills, the exhibition is a unique opportunity for students to exhibit the advertising projects that they have worked on throughout the year, and a chance for industry professionals and the public to meet future advertising pros.

Macleay Advertising Program Leader, Ian Thomson says, "The exhibition is a showcase for graduates who are ready to launch their careers into AdWorld. After extensive consultation with advertising industry representatives, we have aligned the Macleay Advertising program to the expectations of industry so that, when students go out into the workforce, they can be relevant from day one."

LAUNCH presents work from the newest round of graduates from Macleay’s practical, industry-led advertising program. With a diverse range of projects on show this year, include real-world projects for Latisse (through GHG), the National Indigenous Culinary Institute.

Stressing the importance of industry awareness and connections for advertising students, Mr Thomson says, "Two of our top students, Katrina Fowler and Callam Hanks, capped off a demanding year of study this year with invitations to the prestigious B&T Awards last week. At Macleay Advertising, we are constantly looking to strengthen our ties to industry."

Katrina Fowler is a Macleay Advertising graduate who interned with Austereo as part of her diploma. The calibre of her work led to her writing radio ads that are now on air. Katrina has been offered work in the industry even before completing her diploma.

Katrina says, "Macleay's advertising diploma really prepares you for the industry and offers great networking opportunities. Just last week one of my lecturers, Gaye Steel arranged for me to attend the B&T Awards. It was an amazing experience to feel like an insider. By the end of the night, I had received all types of hints - and lots of business cards, which I'm sure will come in handy."
