Bachelor of Business: Travel and Tourism

The Bachelor of Business specialising in Travel & Tourism will teach you the specific skills required by the travel and tourism industry, whilst developing important business skills needed to succeed in any business context.

In Year 1 the Bachelor of Business will teach you about the current and future direction of tourism, the laws that affect the industry, the A to Z of codes used in airline reservations, ticketing, eco and specialist tourism. You’ll get to visit a local travel consultant or a major tour operator and learn about how a travel agency operates. You will gain a broad overview of how to work successfully in business or even set up a business of your own, through the skills gained from entrepreneurship projects.

In Year 2 you will develop skills in destination management to further your career opportunities. You will immerse yourself in detailed business skills such as leadership, strategic management, project management and business finance. You will know how to make solid business decisions based on a thorough understanding of economic and marketing data. Two elective subjects also provide you with the flexibility to follow a specific interest.

Each year you’ll take part in our internship placement program. It is an excellent opportunity to build your professional network whilst applying all of the practical knowledge you’ve gained throughout the course.

There is a focus on action and experiential learning including interactive presentations, industry specific case studies, team work, individual assignments and real world projects which stimulate innovative thinking. The course will encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and explore new ideas thereby helping you to develop resilience, adaptability and self-confidence.
