After graduating with a Diploma of Advertising, Heidi landed a role at The Hallway, the agency where she had interned during her studies. Fast-forward a few years and Heidi's career has taken her around the world! We caught up with Heidi to see what she's up to, and how she found Macleay.
Tell us a bit about yourself
I love change and can’t handle the 9 to 5 routine. This is why I wanted to pursue advertising, because every day is different. Advertising has given me the opportunity to work and travel around the word.
At the end of the day, I’m someone who believes in the power of ideas and bringing these to life.
What are your aspirations?
After spending years investing in other peoples’ brands, I’d love to put my passion into one I can call my own. What that is yet, I’m not sure!
Why did you choose the course?
I started studying at The University of Sydney with a goal to be a journalist. I soon realised I needed something a bit more visually creative and made the shift to Macleay College.
What was the Macleay experience like?
Macleay was great in that it was a very practical course. It equipped me with a better sense of what advertising life is really like.
I had some talented lecturers who spoke from a place of experience versus a text book and theory.
Where did you intern during your studies?
I started my internship at The Hallway and then went on to work for the company for the next 2 years. As one of the first members I was fortunate to have my introduction to advertising at an agency that recognised that old creative model wasn’t designed for the changing and fragmented media landscape.
Professionally, what are you up to now?
I’m based in New York, as an Account Supervisor at Droga5.
