Give us a quick rundown on your background?
In 2011, I completed a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Marketing, sub-majoring in Advertising and PR at the University of Technology, Sydney.
I started my media career whilst I was still at Uni via an internship at GroupM. Throughout my seven years in media, I have worked across several clients within the FMCG, pharmaceutical, QSR and alcohol categories.
I am currently a Partnerships Director at UM (Universal McCann), based in Surry Hills.
How did you get into the industry?
As part of my University degree, I completed a subject called Media Planning in which I was introduced to the MFA and their internship programme. Over the summer, I took part in an internship at Maxus, an agency within GroupM. Post internship, Maxus offered me a position and I have been in media ever since.
What is the biggest difference in the industry since you were at university?
What is so exciting about the media industry is the rate at which media changes as influenced by technology and constantly changing consumer attitudes and habits. Out of home, in particular, has evolved the most with the creation of new formats and the introduction of digital capabilities.
What do you do when you are not teaching?
Apart from working at UM, I love to travel so if I am not gallivanting around Australia or somewhere overseas, I am planning a trip to do so!
What do you enjoy about teaching at Macleay?
The media industry is prevalent in everyone’s lives on a daily basis. I enjoy introducing students to a world they knew existed but may not have understood its complexities.
