Qualified counsellors are available at our Sydney and Melbourne campuses every week. You can book a private and confidential meeting free of charge if you’re in need of some personal and emotional support. We also offer free workshops on study tips, referencing, essay writing, research, report writing and more, and encourage all students to attend.

I’m the Head of Advertising and Digital Media at Macleay and have also taught at the college for almost 6 years. My career spans 35 years’ in the Advertising, Marketing and Communications industries in Europe and Australia working at agencies such as Havas, Ogilvy & Mather, Saatchi & Saatchi and JWT London. The last 20 years have been in agency management as either Partner, MD or CEO.
I'm a former reporter and foreign correspondent for Reuters, Daily Telegraph (UK) and The Independent. I now mostly write long-form features and essays for Australian magazines including Griffith Review and The Weekend Australian Magazine. I won a Walkley Award for Coverage of Indigenous Affairs. My non-fiction book Pitcairn: Paradise Lost won the Ned Kelly Award for best true crime writing.
I’ve worked for over 20 years in the communications industry with FMCG, Lifestyle, Arts, Health, Education, Fashion and Travel clients and programs including Guinness, Vodafone, Triumph and more. My background includes teaching Visual Arts, working across PR Agencies in London and Sydney, setting up my Marketing & PR Consultancy and developing various Entrepreneurial ventures online.
I have a design focused background and learned to program in my spare time. I soon found that I was a better programmer than designer, so switched to programming full-time which I’ve been doing for the last 15 years. In addition to lecturing at Macleay, I’ve worked with a number of agencies, and currently leading the technical team at creative agency, The Monkeys.
After years at the Age, I now lecture in journalism, multimedia, podcasting, video journalism and mobile journalism at Macleay. During my time at Fairfax, I worked as a video journalist but have recently turned my hand to podcast production. I co-produced The Age’s multi-award winning podcast ‘Phoebe’s Fall’ and was part of the team who produced ‘Wrong Skin’, recently named Podcast of the Year at the Australian Podcast Awards.
My career has spanned across business development, strategy, marketing, sales and consulting roles within small and large businesses. After years in the corporate 9-to-5 world, I finally took the plunge and started my own business. I currently run Savvy Entrepreneurs Online with my business partner along with my own business coaching practice.
I'm the Managing Director for a strategic Communications and Marketing agency, Paper + Spark, and publisher of Money & Life, where I lead teams of content strategists, writers, social media gurus and creatives to help brands navigate the ever-changing digital and social media landscape. In 2015, I founded Colloquial, one of Australia’s leading Content Marketing and Social Media Agencies for J.Walter Thompson (WPP).
I work at The Australian Financial Review and have also worked at the Daily Telegraph, the Daily Mirror, The Express, The Times, Metro, The Australian and The South China Morning Post. I count reporting from New York on the 911 attacks, from London on the death of Princess Diana and helping break the Canoe Man hoax in the UK among my journalistic high points.
I’ve been teaching in secondary schools, universities, TAFE and private colleges for over 30 years. I hold degrees at Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral levels within the fields of psychology, education, communications and the creative arts. I am also a published playwright and author of numerous creative and academic texts. My book, Study Right, has become one of Australia’s best-selling ‘How to Study’ guides.
I’m a film Director, Producer, Editor and Director of Photography. I also run my own agency called Joker Theory Films and have won a few awards including an ASTRA and an ARIA for my music video by Pnau. When not working at my agency and teaching at Macleay, I run workshops in digital and mobile journalism for news organisations like AA and Fairfax.
Originally from the UK, I have over 15 years’ experience in radio, television, digital media and live events spanning both the competitive UK commercial market and also public sector with the BBC (Radio 1 and Worldwide). Working in those highly competitive areas, has led to an extensive background in project and event management, marketing and leadership.
I’m the Head of Journalism at Macleay and a member of the Academic Board. I’ve been a journalist for over 25 years, working across newspapers, magazines and digital publications at places like the Daily Telegraph, Manly Daily, Ten Daily, Government News and New Idea. For the past 10 years I’ve also been running my own company, freelancing for a range of publications and corporate clients.
I started out in the Brisbane music scene many eons ago. That led me on a fantastically interesting journey through marketing, tech and eventually to education. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the biggest names in Australia and overseas, including Qantas, Coles, News Limited, General Assembly, ANZ, Accenture, and of course, Macleay College.
I have worked in the business, marketing and events industries for 30 years in places like the Australian National Maritime Museum and the State Library of NSW. I’m still involved in Event Management, organising events for the Positive Education Schools Association and the Australian Dental Association conferences. I am passionate about teaching and enjoy supporting students to succeed.
I started my career in newspapers before moving to New York City to freelance. Upon returning to Australia I worked in magazines including ELLE, Mode, Who Weekly, Cosmopolitan and Madison. I also edited Cleo and Australian Style magazines before returning to newspapers in 1999 where I created the Body + Style magazine and TV show as well as all News Ltd's Olympic publications.
I have 25 years’ experience in publishing and advertising, working with brands like Nestlé, P&G, Aviate Group, MLC, Ensemble Theatre, McDonalds, Ferrero Rocher, Nutella, Volkswagen, Streets, Merlin Entertainment and Sony Pictures. In 2015, I started my own design agency called Peppermint Digital. My goal for my business is to work in partnership with PR and Ad agencies to deliver cutting-edge design.
I’m a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants in Australia, having worked as an accountant in public practice and industry. I have also consulted in the NSW Irrigation water industry for many years. My work preference is management reporting and analysis of financial information. I enjoy lecturing at Macleay because it has given me a new perspective on professional life.
As a specialist writer of food and travel articles and books for companies like Fairfax and Lonely Planet, I’ve travelled the globe for over a decade in search of stories and also spent eight years at Bauer Media writing, editing and managing multiple titles. I’m also passionately interested in the field of professional ethics, having volunteered as an ethics teacher in NSW primary schools.
Throughout my 20 year career, I’ve directed and delivered award-winning communications strategies and been a winner and finalist across numerous Australian Commercial Radio Awards. I’m currently the Managing Director of my own consultancy company, Strategic Media Solutions, which provides marketing, media and communications services to a range of corporate and small business clients.
I’m a national news presenter and National Newsroom Director for NOVA Entertainment, where I present news for Nova’s Number 1 Drive Time show, “Kate, Tim and Marty” and also direct NOVA Entertainment’s news teams nationally. With a Degree in Politics and a Masters in Journalism, my career has seen me work for Sky News, Prime TV as well as anchoring a news show in Canada.
I have been working in the Accounting industry for over 15 years, with qualifications in Bachelor of Business (Accounting), Certified Practising Accountant, Chartered Accountant and Registered Tax Agent. In 2013, I founded my own Accounting Public Practice Firm, 3P Accounting and Tax Pty Ltd. I started lecturing at Macleay in 2018 and enjoy passing on my knowledge and professional experiences to students.
In my 25+ years with The Sun and The Herald Sun, I worked on almost every big story, major sporting and news events of the era, from the Hoddle and Queen St massacres of the late 1980s through the gangland wars to the Black Saturday fires. I’ve also covered 20 Melbourne Cups, State and Federal elections, and served as News Ltd.’s national Defence Correspondent and chief of staff.
I’ve worked for three decades as an Art Director and Designer, in Sydney and London, and have lectured countless students in Creative Process and Design Thinking technique. I completed a Masters of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) at Melbourne University and am passionate about helping people develop their creativity in personal and professional lives.
I’m a Central Victorian tree-change photographer, after working for 30 years as a Newspaper Photographer. Recently, I was working as a Chief Photographer at Bendigo Advertiser, mentoring graduate photographers and journalists with daily newspaper operations. Prior to that, I was Chief Photographer for FCN in The Age building. In addition to teaching at Macleay I work as a freelance photographer.
In addition to teaching at Macleay, I am the International Program Director for Project Management training for Priority Management and also the Chair of the Priority Management Global Project Management development team. I have almost 30 years experience lecturing at TAFE and universities and 40 years operational and project experience in aviation, logistics, government, the oil industry and tourism.
Australian born in the USA, raised in Sydney. I started my career as an Advertising Art Director and then switched to Graphic designer. I’ve worked professionally as a Designer, Singer-songwriter/Performer (Vitabeats), and Higher Ed Academic and Lecturer. Currently a PhD candidate, my thesis is: ‘Renewing cultural identity through Australian song’.
When not lecturing at Macleay, I’m a 3AW radio senior journalist, newsreader, editor, arts, entertainment, lifestyle and travel reporter. Career highlights include winning the National Radio Award (Brian White Memorial AWARD – now ACRAS) for my live report on the World Economic Forum protests and a sit down, face to face interview with Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood.
I worked for Nestle, in my home country of France, as an intern and later was offered a job with Nescafé where I stayed for three years. After completing my second Masters in Sydney, I worked for health and construction brands in marketing roles. I started my own business in 2015 and now work with small to large companies helping them develop their marketing strategies.
I work at the ABC as a Technical Editor. My job closely connects to what I teach as I explore the relationship between the journalist and developer in the workplace. The skills taught enable journalists to understand the role of a developer and how they are becoming more prominent in newsrooms.
I’m a Senior Partnerships Director at UM (Universal McCann), based in Surry Hills. I startedmy media career whilst I was still at Uni via an internship at GroupM. Throughout my seven years in media, I have worked across several clients within the FMCG, pharmaceutical, QSR and alcohol categories.
I’m the author of High Sobriety: My Year Without Booze, a memoir and exploration of Australia’s binge drinking culture, which was a best seller and finalist in the Walkley Book of the Year. I’ve also worked for The Age as a health reporter and a senior writer and have been a social commentator on Conversation Hour and a guest on The Project and Sunrise.
